Need some advice, opinions, thoughts regarding nodules
Backstory: diagnosed in 2001 with hypothyroidism, I was 13. Currently 30, I’m on 137 mcg of Synthyroid. 2011 I had my first ultrasound and 2 nodules were discovered. They were small and no biopsy was done.
2014- ultrasound done, 2 nodules were noted again. But under 1 cm, FNA was done and came back inconclusive, 6 months later done again, inconclusive.
2017 -ultrasound again. Nodule on left lobe was 1.4cm, and and an enlarged lymph node noted. FNA completed and again inconclusive. No reasoning for enlarged lymph node
I had another ultrasound a few weeks ago and just got my results. “1.12 solid vascular nodule in lower pole of left lobe”
Endo didn’t want to do a biopsy because I have 3 inconclusive results. He did suggest resection, partial thyroid to my.
Lab work is great and feel excellent
-solid vascular nodules cancer risk?
-partial thyroidectomy? What it’s like? Recovery?
- babies. We were just starting to try for baby. Pregnancy after thyroidectomy?
Thanks in advance!!!

If I were in your shoes, before jumping into surgery, I would ask that they test thyroid antibodies: Tg/TgAB for sure, but also TPO and TSI. If you have antibodies, it might be easier to go for a total thyroidectomy. Alternatively, if antibodies are not present, I would be more comfortable with watching and waiting, if you are interested in that and don't have symptoms.
I would also ask if they would be putting you on thyroid meds after surgery. Your t3 (which looks like free t3) is too low. Especially if you are thinking about babies, that needs to be higher. Some surgeons insist that part of the thyroid is sufficient. It CAN be enough, but more often than not, you need a little boost with meds.
